Our story
Designed locally. Inspired by Africa.
Contemporary furniture and decor designed to stand out first—then reveal its African character as you look closer.
How it began
A focused idea, built through experience.
The journey began in 2021, when engineer and entrepreneur Eduard Bateman started designing for precision laser cutting and selling online. More than five years in ecommerce and over 1,000 individual Takealot orders helped shape the experience behind the brand.
African ART.site launched in 2025 with a clearer purpose: to create distinctive African-inspired pieces that belong naturally in clean, contemporary interiors.
Why we exist
A modern expression of Africa.
We saw room between conventional African-themed decor and the modern interiors people live in today. Our connection to Africa may appear through a silhouette, a precision-cut pattern, a layered detail or the sculptural form of the product itself.
The design comes first. The African story reveals itself as you look closer.
Materials and making
Designed for precision. Finished with care.
Purpose-made sheets with a stable MDF core and real wood veneer on both sides give us the flat, consistent material needed for detailed laser cutting—without losing the warmth and individual grain of natural wood.
Walnut, Mahogany and Okoume offer different wood characters, while black ForesColor MDF adds contrast and definition.

What guides us
Quality. Originality. Precision. Passion.
These values guide every decision—from the first design line to the way the finished product arrives.
Our vision is to strengthen South African production, create employment and take modern African design into more homes, lodges, hotels and interiors—locally and internationally.
